“In the Souq”

© 2013 Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott

It is ironic that I enjoy the experience of being in the souq so much, as I rarely purchase much there. This time I did buy some spices (cardamom and saffron – both expensive back at home), a pashmina scarf for my daughter, a few skirts for my wife, and a nicely freshly squeezed glass of pomegranate juice for me. But what I really love is the environment. So exotic and different than North America, and so full of photographic opportunities. This particular one is in the Old City of Jerusalem, and is full of hustle and bustle…and life! Colors and textures, the sights, sounds, and smells of the Middle East.
