“Waiting for Spring”

© 2014 Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott

I dug back into the archives from last winter to a shot that I always wanted to share. I’m a gear guy, obviously, but I get a perverse pleasure out of shooting with old, cheap lenses. This off brand 135mm lens was one I found at a local pawn shop and paid $10 for. Gear is great and can allow you to do some special things, but at the end of the day, it is the photographer that makes the images, not the gear. This old barn was trapped in the deep freeze of winter. The farm may be on hold, but come spring, this old structure will have new life and continue to serve its purpose. Here’s hoping I can do the same!

Gear Used:

Canon EOS 6D DSLR Camera (Body Only)

Image SMC 135mm f/2.8 M42 lens
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 Software for Mac and Windows (Boxed Version)
Adobe Photoshop Creative Cloud 1-Year Subscription
Alien Skin Snap Art 4 (Use coupon code DAB1402 to get 10% off the software)
