“Walking on Water”

I rose early yesterday morning and went walking on the frozen river to catch the sunrise. The ice fishermen tell me that the ice on the Ottawa River this year is five feet thick! I took this photo out nearly half a kilometer from the shore. The trees in the first half of the image are on an island out several hundred meters into the river. The wind creates some interesting textures on the snow in this open expanse. At another point on the river near where many of the ice fisherman are, there was literally a parking lot plowed out where some 30-40 cars/trucks could park. For a guy raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, this is all still a bit surreal even after living here for nearly 17 years.
