Chase the Light

© 2014 Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott

Most of my shooting over time has either been more deliberate or of slower moving subjects in event photography, so I’ve enjoyed the fresh challenge of learning to shoot a very fast moving object in our new puppy. One this is definite about this style of shooting – you have to do all of your planning in advance, because once the motion starts tracking becomes the all consuming task. This is my favorite of this series of shots because I managed to get Bella’s head perfectly situated in a swath of light coming up the street of the neighborhood beyond. This evening the golden hour light was really soft and gentle, and the result was very rich colors. I hope this joyful spring image brings a smile to your face today.
