“The Ghost Iris”

© 2014 Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott

I had fun processing this one. I knew as soon as I looked at the shot that it was a natural monochrome. There was a lot of contrast between the subject and the background, and the narrow DOF allowed for a unique look. I also knew I wanted to go fairly low key with the backdrop, but things got really interesting when I added the bluish tones and the stalks of the iris turned a nicely ghostly hue. I like the look of this one and hope you enjoy it as much as me.
