“The Tent Maker”

© 2014 Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott

Another look at the wonders of spring and nature. The tent caterpillar is an increasingly common species in our part of the world, and they build elaborate nests, or tents, that look almost like very thick spider’s webs. They are considered by many to be a pest species because they devour a lot of leaves from the trees they choose. I found this particular “tent” to be an intriguing subject because of the unique shape. I love the “hole” in the middle with the elaborate arch above. Some more Helios magic here, by the way. Isn’t that bokeh delicious?
