Bales and Blossoms

It’s a time of year that I love – late summer. The grasses in the fields are high and mature, and wildflowers are rampant. I particularly love the brilliant purple blossoms of the spiked blazing star, a wildflower that colors the fields with its tall stalks of beauty. The other highlight of the season is the fields of hay where the tractors have “laid their eggs”, and the bales sit, sometimes into the hundreds. There is a sweet melancholy that summer is soon winding down, and autumn will soon overlap, but for the moment, the bales and blossoms fill my senses.
