No, this is not an autumn shot. This is a leaf from one of my Crimson King maples, a tree that has deep maroon leaves throughout the year. I was drawn to the fine form of the leaf along with the clearly defined water droplet just waiting to fall from the sharp blade of the leaf. I have desaturated the image to create more earthtones while painting a little of the saturation back in to the leaf itself. My title reflects the amazing fine detail in the leaf itself, the patina of textures and veins. P.S. The Zeiss is incredbly sharp wide open (if you nail focus), but the DOF is so small at closer range like this that I frequently stop down just to get a larger area in focus.

Technical information Canon EOS 6D, Zeiss APO Sonnar T 2/135mm ZE, Processed in Adobe Lightroom 5, Photoshop CC, and Alien Skin Exposure 6
