“After the Rain”
© 2015 Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott
After living away from it for so long I had forgotten how marvelous the desert is after a rain. The wide open spaces and the mountains surrounding the “Valley of the Sun” in Arizona allows you a wide open canvas to see the play of light and clouds. The smell is wonderful. Fresh, earthy, clean. In that brief window following the rain the desert comes alive with green and blossoms. I shot this in Fountain Hills, Arizona. The locally famous mountain range “Four Peaks” is visible in the distance. I used a Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/21mm for this shot along with a Hoya Circular Polarizer. I bracketed three exposures and then blended them together for the final result here.
