“Let the Light Filter In”

Here’s another “artsy” shot from the new Canon 100-400L II. While it is highly flare resistant, I was able to produce some flare effect for this shot (the flare is all natural) by positioning the sun right out of the frame and allowing the bit of flare to trickle into the image. I really, really liked the effect for this shot. Note that despite the hazy look the contrast on the subject (and sharpness) is still very good. I helped the color along a bit by blending two presets from Alien Skin Exposure 7 (Color Fading – Postcard, Brown Shadows along with the Color Fading – Color Photo preset). I’m eager to add this lens to my own personal kit. My review of the new Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM II is now live:
