Delightful Defects

As a professional lens reviewer I always evaluate a lens’ optical performance, including its resistance to flare, ghosting, and veiling when pointed into the sun. Ironic, then, isn’t it, that I have some vintage lenses that do all of those things but I love the effect. The prismatic flaw in this image is one that I purposefully shot for, and while I have added a bit of contrast to the image and boosted the saturation somewhat, the flare pattern is all natural here.
