When the World Turned Blue

© 2015 Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott

Autumn’s color palette is unique warm, but winters is uniquely cool. It’s amazing how the giant reflector of snow changes the light so absolutely. Our first snowfall came at night, but as soon as I began to stir in the morning before dawn had really broken I knew that it had snowed. I used my rubber waders to wade out into the partially frozen water of the river and set up my tripod for this shot. It combines 1, 8, and 30 second exposures to achieve the result here. The color palette has turned cool; the world has turned blue.
