Dawn on Muskrat River

© 2016 Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott

Something about the nature of this small river keeps the ice from forming except in extreme conditions. This subzero morning wasn’t quite extreme enough, so I was able to capture the beauty of dawn’s first color, the night’s frost on the trees, and the mist rising off the open water. It was a beautiful sight, and I’m partial to this finished result.
