“Under a China Blue Sky”

© 2016 Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott

I’ve always loved this spot where you have a chance to look off into the distance over a gorgeous view. My wife and I had our wedding reception with this view (summer version) more than 18 years ago. It was very different than when I took this shot yesterday, on a brutally cold day (subzero temperatures in whatever measurement you use) and a whipping wind. But the extreme cold produces these beautiful colors and the china blue sky, and the whipping wind creates the textures in the snow. The river is the Ottawa, with its many islands. The far shore is the province of Quebec and the rolling hills of the Pontiac region. Savor the view, and appreciate the fact that you aren’t risking frostbite to see it!
