“Where the Buffalo Roam…”

The old Western classic “Home on the Range” says, “Oh give me a home, where the buffalo roam…” That place is in Alberta, Canada, where the once vast herds of North American bison that were nearly hunted to extinction have been revived. Here the buffalo do truly “roam”. This fellow in this photo was just minutes before “roaming” across the highway in a reserve. These massive beasts are all over the Elk Island National Park, and I was within ten feet of them at times (on foot…don’t tell my wife!) This fellow climbed to the top of a small rise and gave me a perfect, clean opportunity to catch his attention and get the photo I wanted. I enjoyed my quick four day trip to Eastern Alberta to minister at a friend’s church…and take a few photos!
