Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 VC G2 Image Gallery

While doing my recent review of the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 OS ART I got a persistent question from my readers and viewers, “When are you going to review the new Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 G2 lens?”  The answer is now!  The G2 version of Tamron’s popular stabilized 24-70mm lens was delayed for a while in the Canon mount, so I did not end up having it at the same time as the Sigma, but I do hope to put them head to head in the future.  Few lenses are more useful for general purpose shooting and event work than 24-70mm f/2.8 lenses, and they are even more useful when they come with an image stabilizer.  Tamron was the first to develop such a lens, and, as a result, they have an advantage at this stage as while other companies are designing a stabilized 24-70mm f/2.8, Tamron is able to instead refine their offering at this focal length and improve it.  I can already attest to a much better build, faster, quieter autofocus, better stabilization, and even nicer bokeh rendering.  I’ll determine if they have made improvements to the resolution as well during my review process.  In the meantime, however, enjoy some photos of the lens along with a variety of photos taken with the Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2.
