I was brave enough to take the new Rokinon along for a professional "gig" yesterday that included an infant portrait session. It helped to have a beautiful little boy as a subject. I was at floor level shooting this shot in the client's house, using a mix of fixed lighting (300W equivalent daylight CFLs in softboxes) along with an onboard bounced Metz 64 AF-1 primarily for catchlights. The flare is added in post. This was wide open, and you can see both the nice sharpness as well as the wonderful bokeh from this lens (perhaps the best I've seen from a 50mm lens other than the Canon 50L). Brand new baby and a brand new lens.
Technical info: Canon EOS 6D, Rokinon 50mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC, Processed in Adobe Lightroom 5, Adobe Photoshop CC, Alien Skin Exposure 7 (use code "dustinabbott" to get a 10% discount)
