One of the first (and best) lessons that any photographer can learn is that photos of things below eye level tend to look pretty boring if shot from that perspective. Going low (or high) often adds visual interest. In this case, if I had shot down at these small, ground hugging flowers, it would have been one terrible picture. But by getting the camera down to ground level, it enables a whole new perspective...one that feels intimate and vibrant. P.S. I continue to seriously enjoy my new 35mm f/2 IS lens - it is seriously good!
