0:10
hi I'm Dustin Abbott and I've been
0:12
spending the last month with the win one
0:15
E2 this is an ebike kind of as you can
0:18
see a mini moto style I got into
0:21
reviewing ebikes several years ago
0:23
because I was more interested for my
0:25
youngest son who was looking for
0:27
transportation at the time and to go to
0:30
work and to go to school and so to give
0:32
him a little bit of Independence I
0:33
started to look at ebikes and to
0:35
purchase one for him well fast forward a
0:38
little bit and then 2024 he got old
0:40
enough to buy a car and all of a sudden
0:42
he wasn't interested in the ebike
0:43
anymore so I took over his ebike and I
0:45
found that I actually really enjoyed it
0:47
I'm more of a a road bike person more of
0:51
a serious cyclist but what I discovered
0:53
is that for my photography I was able to
0:55
go places and go further and thus access
0:59
new places to take photos with and I
1:01
actually really enjoyed the process
1:03
something with fat tires and some rains
1:05
allows me to maintain a ridiculously
1:07
high Pace if I'm doing some pedal assist
1:09
and so anyway I've really enjoyed the
1:11
whole process and so I became interested
1:13
in the ebike concept however the bike
1:15
that I'm riding right now has a few
1:18
major issues first of all the brakes are
1:21
it's better at going fast than what it
1:23
is at braking and so I'm actually on my
1:25
third set of brake pads already
1:27
hopefully they'll last a little bit
1:28
longer because I had to have the whole
1:29
brakes recap calibrated because
1:31
everything just wasn't aligned properly
1:32
and so anyway that was one problem the
1:34
other problem is that I can get maybe
1:36
about 30 m uh while using pedal assists
1:40
before the battery runs Dead about 50 km
1:42
something in that range so as a
1:44
byproduct I would like to have something
1:46
that could allow me to go a little bit
1:47
further a little bit longer and uh maybe
1:50
not go through so many breaks so is the
1:52
win1 E2 the solution to that well as you
1:56
can tell it has been a challenging
1:58
season to do a a a review of something
2:01
like this and I've kind of been beating
2:03
this up going through some lots of of
2:06
rough winter conditions it's been
2:07
incredibly cold and Incredibly snowy as
2:10
you can probably see around me and so
2:12
it's been a really really challenging
2:14
review however in a moment I'm going to
2:16
go inside and I'm going to share with
2:18
you my findings of what I observed out
2:20
in the real world share some footage and
2:22
give you my thoughts on the wind1 E2
2:24
let's dive in all right so we'll come in
2:27
by the fire and uh be a little bit
2:29
warmer inside here and talk about a
2:31
little bit so let me give you the
2:32
overall specs of the win one E2 it is
2:35
the is powered by a 500 watt nominal
2:39
motor with a maximum or a Peak
2:41
Performance of 750 watts now this is an
2:45
area where I have found that you have to
2:46
be careful in looking at the marketing
2:48
because it can be a little bit deceptive
2:49
there are some that advertise 750 watts
2:53
for example and that would be their
2:54
actual their Peak and so it's not what
2:56
it's regularly putting out it's what
2:58
it's capable of in you know small
3:00
moments of Peak Performance in this case
3:02
they advertise it as a 500 watt and I
3:04
think maybe that's a little bit more
3:05
honest in approach and so note that 500
3:08
watts doesn't sound very impressive
3:09
particularly when we talk about the
3:10
weight of the bike however it is maybe a
3:13
little bit more powerful compared to
3:14
some competitors than what that may
3:18
itself and so we have the 500 750 watt
3:22
motor and in that is fueled by a
3:26
624 wat hour battery pack that's a 48
3:29
Vol 13 amp hour battery so about 1.5 amp
3:34
hours uh bigger than the battery in my
3:36
current bike the top speed differs
3:39
depending on whether or not you're going
3:40
on pure electric or you're doing pedal
3:42
assist if you're doing pure electric top
3:44
speed is only 20 M an hour or 32 km per
3:47
hour and if you're doing pedal assist it
3:50
is 28 m per hour or up to 45 km hour the
3:56
range if you're going on pure electric
3:58
is rated at 2 8 m or 45 km if you're
4:01
doing pedal assist it's 46.6 m or 75 km
4:07
it is R to climb up to a 20% grade and
4:10
it's sitting on Fat Tires 20in 4 in wide
4:15
uh fat tires and I think probably most
4:17
impressively here is that we have RSX
4:20
hydraulic brakes and so uh better brakes
4:23
than any of the ebikes that I've tested
4:25
to this point and as we're going to see
4:26
that is one of the standout areas of the
4:30
so as far as the way that it comes out
4:33
of the box you can see here how it
4:34
arrived to me it took me about 45
4:37
minutes to finish assembly that's
4:39
largely just a few things you have to
4:41
put on including the front mud flap
4:44
putting on the front tire uh putting on
4:47
the handlebars making the final
4:48
adjustment to the suspension and putting
4:51
it into the the right spot so about 45
4:54
minutes and of course that's not me
4:55
moving as fast as what I might do
4:57
because I'm trying to document the
5:00
there is a number of included tools here
5:02
as you can see they don't skimp on that
5:04
and so you really don't need any
5:05
additional tools they have everything
5:07
that you need right there in the box and
5:10
when you put something together at least
5:11
a little bit you do get a sense of the
5:13
quality of the components and I will say
5:15
here that I was actually very impressed
5:17
with the build quality here and that
5:19
continues to be the case after riding it
5:21
a fair bit this is a really nicely made
5:23
bike but note when I say nicely made
5:26
that does not mean light so not too hard
5:30
and then so as you can see after
5:33
assembly it looks really looks really
5:35
quite cool actually it's a very great
5:37
look for the bike and and I think that
5:39
one of its selling points is going to be
5:41
its good looks so how about as I went
5:44
out and rode the bike I think that's
5:45
where I really started to get my
5:47
Impressions and so I'll give you my
5:48
thoughts on that and then I'll give you
5:50
the things that I like and then the
5:51
things that I didn't like about it so as
5:53
far as writing one of the the things
5:55
that just quickly stood out to me is
5:56
this this really isn't a pedal bike it's
5:59
got a really odd position and obviously
6:01
rather than a traditional bike saddle
6:03
you actually have something that's more
6:05
like a motorcycle style seat on it and
6:09
so as a byproduct your pedal position it
6:12
doesn't adjust up and down and that's
6:13
kind of the main thing we're kind of
6:15
throw some for me I'm about 6' one but
6:18
uh that doesn't tell the full story I've
6:20
got a really long in seam I'm more legs
6:23
than I am upper body and so as a
6:25
byproduct my legs are more like a person
6:27
that's you know 63 somewhere in that
6:29
range and so I I found for me it almost
6:33
felt like I was on a recumbent style
6:34
bike where I wasn't really doing an up
6:37
and down kind of pedal but almost like a
6:39
front movement and so it really was not
6:41
a great pedal experience for me the
6:44
there's also a secondary problem that
6:46
kind of threw me because I did watch
6:48
some others reviews of the bike just
6:50
trying to get a sense of it and what I
6:52
because and also to answer some
6:53
questions and what I found is that
6:56
obviously there's been some kind of
6:57
regulatory change that has caused wi one
6:59
to uh recalibrate this bike and put some
7:02
electronic Governors on it uh what I
7:05
noted from the earlier reviews the
7:06
earliest builds of the bike is that you
7:08
could actually achieve that Peak speed
7:11
um just in pure electric you didn't have
7:13
to have any kind of pedal assist
7:15
obviously that's changed and so I saw a
7:18
very definite limiter where I saw no
7:21
faster than 32 km an hour or 20 M an
7:24
hour in pure e and that was if I was
7:26
going downhill if I was it didn't really
7:29
matter I was very clearly electronically
7:31
Limited at that point and for me I never
7:34
actually saw any higher than 40 km an
7:37
hour about 20 uh 25 miles an hour even
7:40
when I was doing pedal assist and kind
7:43
of the main reason for that that it has
7:45
a problem that many ebikes that I've
7:47
tested at this point have and that is
7:49
namely that if you try to Pedal hard on
7:52
it there isn't enough resistance even it
7:54
does have a Shimano shifter but even if
7:56
you go into the the highest ratio that
7:58
should have the most resistance it's
8:01
really not much resistance at least for
8:02
an actual cyclist and so what I found is
8:05
that if I wanted to move faster I felt
8:07
like I was almost spinning out of
8:08
control because there wasn't enough
8:10
resistance for me to actually add more
8:12
Force to it so maybe in theory if you're
8:14
going downhill you could get up to the
8:16
45 km an hour 28 mil an hour but I
8:19
didn't personally see that myself I also
8:22
found that acceleration isn't as quick
8:24
I've been riding the high boy p7 as my
8:27
the main bike I've been riding uh E
8:30
ebike I should say and I just found that
8:32
acceleration is a little bit slower on
8:36
E2 I also found when going to you know
8:39
they claim to be able to climb up to a
8:41
20% grade and so I tested that uh I
8:44
don't think it was quite a 20 uh
8:46
percentage grade but I was it was
8:48
probably somewhere about a 15 percentage
8:51
uh climb and what I found is that I was
8:54
able to maintain as I was pedaling by
8:57
the way not just going on pure e but
8:58
with pedalist assist I was able to
9:00
maintain about 25 km an hour climbing
9:03
that I would think that you could it
9:05
would probably would have dropped to
9:06
about 20 kmet an hour when climbing that
9:09
if I was not doing pedal assist now one
9:11
thing that really stands out as a really
9:13
really fantastic positive is the fact
9:16
that this has a full suspension a rear
9:18
and a front suspension and thus when
9:20
you're out riding one of the my kind of
9:22
real world observations it is a smoother
9:24
more comfortable ride than what I am
9:26
accustomed to seeing now I wasn't riding
9:28
in great conditions and more on that in
9:30
just a moment but I I could definitely
9:33
tell that the suspension is really
9:34
fantastic I would say that a great
9:36
application for this is if you're doing
9:37
like more like Trail kind of rides where
9:39
it's a really rough and uneven surface
9:41
it's a really tough frame but it's also
9:43
got a great suspension and you can make
9:45
some adjustments to that suspension and
9:47
I think that that kind of stood out the
9:49
other thing I found in real world
9:50
observation is that you know when I had
9:52
the conversation about doing this review
9:54
I was very reluctant to do a winter
9:56
review cuz I know the kind of winters
9:58
that we have but I mean the idea was oh
10:00
yeah people are riding them in the snow
10:01
they're having fun those people are much
10:03
more skilled than I am I did not have
10:05
fun trying to ride in any kind of deep
10:07
snow even with fat tires it is very hard
10:10
to keep from fishtailing and and so it
10:12
is not my preferred mode of
10:14
transportation and so then if I drove
10:15
drove on the roads because you know
10:17
there's been so much snow and there's
10:19
you know they they salt the roads and
10:21
there's there slush on the side of the
10:22
road like I was wearing it from head to
10:26
toe like being sprayed on and so I got
10:28
home and I was absolutely filthy from uh
10:31
doing an extended kind of ride and so
10:33
anyway this will be the last time that I
10:35
do a winter ebike review we'll just
10:36
leave it at that so how about some
10:38
things that I like I think that it looks
10:41
really really great it this is a very
10:43
cool style and particularly for the
10:45
price tag you can get it for around
10:47
$1,000 it really does represent a very
10:50
great looking bike it has fantastic
10:53
brakes the brakes uh they're you know
10:56
again they're fully hydraulic you've got
10:58
great grab uh when it when you get up to
11:00
speed you're able to really bite down
11:02
and to to stop much faster and with more
11:05
confidence than any of the ebikes that
11:07
I've used or tested to this point before
11:09
so I really really liked that I also
11:12
like the fact that the uh up and down
11:14
shifter for the pedal assist it's very
11:17
well situated it's easy to use uh it's
11:20
it's something that is definitely an
11:21
improvement over any of the High boys
11:23
that I've tested for example where this
11:25
was really just very easy to to thumb up
11:27
and down without having to even take
11:28
your your eyes off the road and so that
11:31
was great to use it has a really nice
11:34
LCD screen it's very easy to see it's
11:36
nice and bright it's got that nice
11:38
Center position and so I really
11:40
appreciated that I found that again the
11:42
suspension was something that really
11:44
stood out to me as being exceptional I
11:45
would say the brakes and the suspension
11:47
are are just topnotch in this and that
11:50
was amongst the things I really liked I
11:52
also found that while I didn't love the
11:55
seat for pedaling as I've mentioned what
11:58
I did love about it is is that because
12:00
you have this long kind of almost bench
12:02
you have the ability to move backwards
12:04
and forwards and so to adjust you know
12:06
where your weight is situated where your
12:08
body is situated and thus I found that
12:10
it was fairly comfortable for longer
12:13
rides that I could get I could move
12:15
around more easily and have more room
12:17
for adjustment and so you're not kind of
12:19
at the same pressure points on your body
12:21
and so I did appreciate that one of the
12:23
other things that I like is that you've
12:25
got a nice headlight here and the
12:27
headlight is better protected it's
12:28
actually got a cage around it I've
12:30
actually gone through a couple of ebike
12:32
headlights already um when you're going
12:34
through you know rough terrain it's it's
12:36
not difficult for them to take some
12:38
bumps and so uh to having an e an actual
12:42
frame around it is is very welcome for
12:44
that uh there I also appreciated the
12:46
fact that the brake light is actually
12:48
integrated and so it's a working brake
12:50
light and so when you put on the brakes
12:53
that brake light is lighting up and so
12:55
it's giving more clear indication if you
12:57
are riding in dim or night time
12:59
conditions people can actually see when
13:01
you're breaking and so that is great I
13:03
also noted that the handling is quite
13:05
tight now it it's tight in also in the
13:08
sense that you don't have the ability
13:09
like with some bikes you could actually
13:11
twist the handlebars all the way around
13:13
this actually has a turn ratio so you
13:16
are limited in the range of that but it
13:18
actually handles more tightly and allows
13:20
you to turn more quickly I also it's
13:23
hard for me to get a final read on the
13:25
Range again I've I've been writing in
13:29
Celsius anywhere between about minus8
13:32
and min-2 and by the way at min-2 it's
13:35
absolutely miserable uh and so don't I
13:37
don't recommend doing that and so
13:39
because it's been in such extreme cold
13:41
and it's never really warmed up today is
13:43
the warmest day that I've seen in two
13:45
months and it is uh about -6 cels so
13:49
it's down about 20° or a little under
13:52
for those of you that speak Fahrenheit
13:54
uh it's so as a byproduct I I can't
13:57
really give you a final word on the
13:58
actual range cold is killer on batteries
14:01
and so as as you're probably aware and
14:03
that's one of the the basic problems
14:05
that even with electric cars here in
14:07
Canada uh range estimates will typically
14:10
will drop uh anywhere from between 30
14:13
and 50% depending on the vehicle and so
14:16
obviously that's a that's a huge factor
14:19
that you really can't overcome and
14:20
neither can you overcome it on an ebike
14:22
but uh from the reports of others that
14:25
are writing in more advantageous
14:27
conditions it seems like the the range
14:31
estimation is holding up and that's not
14:33
a just a marketing exaggeration so how
14:36
about the things that I didn't like well
14:37
I've already referred to the fact that
14:38
the pedal position is weird it's um it's
14:41
it's just not a great for me it's not
14:43
great ergonomics it's not a a great kind
14:45
of pedal type type of bike and I would
14:48
also say as far as the ergonomics I
14:50
would like the handlebars to have the
14:52
ability to be able to adjust up a little
14:55
bit and so they're a little bit low and
14:56
flat and so it's almost like an Easy
14:58
Rider kind of of posture where your arms
15:00
are quite stretched out and so it would
15:02
help actually if they could adjust up a
15:04
little bit higher the other thing that
15:06
was weird to me is that rather than some
15:08
kind of integrated horn which makes
15:10
sense in an ebike you just got a a
15:13
pretty cheap kind of bell attached and
15:16
um it's it seems really anachronistic on
15:19
an ebike to have an very old style cheap
15:23
Bell on there so uh they they could have
15:25
done better with that another thing that
15:27
I would say that isn't fantastic is the
15:29
acceleration and it seems like for
15:31
accelerating the this the win1 E2 is a
15:35
little underpowered as far as your
15:37
thrust or your torque for taking off the
15:40
bike itself is heavy it weighs about 92
15:42
lbs I weigh about 180 lbs and so you're
15:45
motivating you know in that case 270
15:48
plus pounds and uh it just feels like it
15:50
could use a little bit more power to do
15:52
that now top speed can only be achieved
15:55
through pedal assist and it's kind of a
15:57
weird system too in that you even with
15:59
light pedaling all of a sudden you feel
16:01
the motor really ramp up it's because
16:02
it's all about the governor and so if
16:04
you're you know able to achieve a top
16:06
speed of 20 well all of a sudden you're
16:08
able to you know move up an additional 5
16:10
to eight miles per hour with very very
16:12
light pedaling it's it's just like the
16:14
the governor is reacting to that and so
16:16
it's not really a smooth or linear type
16:19
system so I didn't love that either and
16:21
as mentioned it's hard to go fast on
16:23
this I I for me I think I can achieve
16:26
only somewhere between the third and the
16:28
fourth level level out of five of pedal
16:30
assist ratios because anything beyond
16:33
that I'm just I feel like my legs are
16:34
just spinning and so I have to actually
16:36
keep it down and thus get a lower amount
16:38
of speed because I don't get the full
16:40
amount of pedal assist and so it's not
16:42
great for that the other thing is is
16:44
that if you're wanting to transport this
16:46
bike it is it's very heavy and so you're
16:48
going to have to be physically strong to
16:49
be able to put it on a rack or put it up
16:51
into the back of a truck and and if
16:54
you're not physically strong you can
16:56
forget it I mean it's it's it's heavy
16:58
and then it's you know always these
16:59
bikes are a little bit awkward just in
17:01
the way you're Distributing the weight
17:03
and because they're fairly tall it's
17:04
hard to actually lift that weight up
17:06
onto say the tailgate of a truck and so
17:08
that's another thing I think that's a
17:10
potential negative out it so my
17:13
conclusion is a little bit complicated
17:16
if you're looking for a hybrid
17:17
experience where you do a lot of like
17:20
electrically assisted pedaling what
17:21
you're looking for is a bike that has
17:23
electronic assist I would say that the
17:25
win win1 E2 probably isn't the great
17:28
bike for you if you're looking on the
17:31
other end of the spectrum if you're
17:32
looking essentially for a cheap electric
17:34
dirk bike or a comfortable electric
17:36
cruiser then this is a makes a lot more
17:39
sense it's a lot greater value for that
17:41
it is comfortable it's got great brakes
17:43
it's it's easy to ride has fairly decent
17:45
ergonomics for a lot of the things one
17:47
other place where I think that this bike
17:49
might be great if you're looking
17:50
essentially for maybe a mountain bike
17:51
that has electronic assist wanting to do
17:53
trail riding it could be fun for that
17:56
because it does have great suspension
17:58
it's got you know the the good knobby
17:59
tires for for locking up with that uh
18:02
you know there are areas where this bike
18:04
shines it has a great aesthetic it has
18:06
good range you know good power fantastic
18:08
brakes fantastic suspension I've never
18:11
done one of these reviews in Winter and
18:13
I'll probably never do one again however
18:16
if you're not in the middle of winter
18:17
and you are looking for a really a great
18:20
bike for going off Trail I would say
18:22
that that maybe is the greatest strength
18:24
for the win one E2 and it is priced well
18:28
and in many cases you can get it for a
18:30
thousand or even a bit under a thousand
18:31
if you catch it under a sale or on a
18:34
sale and so for that kind of money it
18:36
represents a good value but again you
18:38
need to understand there's kind of a
18:40
specific application where this bike
18:41
shines and it's not in using it as a
18:45
pedal assisted or an electrically
18:47
assisted pedaling bike and if that's not
18:50
what you're looking for check out the
18:51
one2 I'm Dustin Abbott and if you want
18:54
more information you can check out uh
18:56
the description there's information
18:58
there about where you can purchase one
19:00
or do more more research there as always
19:03
thanks for watching have a great day and
