reviewing ebikes several years ago

because I was more interested for my

youngest son who was looking for

transportation at the time and to go to

him a little bit of Independence I

purchase one for him well fast forward a

little bit and then 2024 he got old

enough to buy a car and all of a sudden

he wasn't interested in the ebike

anymore so I took over his ebike and I

found that I actually really enjoyed it

I'm more of a a road bike person more of

a serious cyclist but what I discovered

is that for my photography I was able to

go places and go further and thus access

and so anyway I've really enjoyed the

whole process and so I became interested

in the ebike concept however the bike

that I'm riding right now has a few

major issues first of all the brakes are

it's better at going fast than what it

is at braking and so I'm actually on my

third set of brake pads already

hopefully they'll last a little bit

longer because I had to have the whole

everything just wasn't aligned properly

and so anyway that was one problem the

other problem is that I can get maybe

that could allow me to go a little bit

it's been a really really challenging

review however in a moment I'm going to

you my findings of what I observed out

let's dive in all right so we'll come in

by the fire and uh be a little bit

warmer inside here and talk about a

little bit so let me give you the

overall specs of the win one E2 it is

the is powered by a 500 watt nominal

motor with a maximum or a Peak

Performance of 750 watts now this is an

area where I have found that you have to

be careful in looking at the marketing

because it can be a little bit deceptive

there are some that advertise 750 watts

for example and that would be their

actual their Peak and so it's not what

it's regularly putting out it's what

it's capable of in you know small

they advertise it as a 500 watt and I

think maybe that's a little bit more

honest in approach and so note that 500

watts doesn't sound very impressive

particularly when we talk about the

weight of the bike however it is maybe a

little bit more powerful compared to

some competitors than what that may

suggest in and of

itself and so we have the 500 750 watt

motor and in that is fueled by a

that does not mean light so not too hard

look for the bike and and I think that

one of its selling points is going to be

its good looks so how about as I went

out and rode the bike I think that's

where I really started to get my

Impressions and so I'll give you my

thoughts on that and then I'll give you

the things that I like and then the

things that I didn't like about it so as

far as writing one of the the things

that just quickly stood out to me is

this this really isn't a pedal bike it's

got a really odd position and obviously

rather than a traditional bike saddle

you actually have something that's more

like a motorcycle style seat on it and

so as a byproduct your pedal position it

doesn't adjust up and down and that's

kind of the main thing we're kind of

throw some for me I'm about 6' one but

uh that doesn't tell the full story I've

got a really long in seam I'm more legs

than I am upper body and so as a

byproduct my legs are more like a person

that's you know 63 somewhere in that

range and so I I found for me it almost

felt like I was on a recumbent style

bike where I wasn't really doing an up

and down kind of pedal but almost like a

front movement and so it really was not

a great pedal experience for me the

there's also a secondary problem that

kind of threw me because I did watch

some others reviews of the bike just

trying to get a sense of it and what I

because and also to answer some

questions and what I found is that

obviously there's been some kind of

regulatory change that has caused wi one

to uh recalibrate this bike and put some

electronic Governors on it uh what I

noted from the earlier reviews the

earliest builds of the bike is that you

could actually achieve that Peak speed

um just in pure electric you didn't have

to have any kind of pedal assist

obviously that's changed and so I saw a

very definite limiter where I saw no

faster than 32 km an hour or 20 M an

hour in pure e and that was if I was

going downhill if I was it didn't really

matter I was very clearly electronically

Limited at that point and for me I never

actually saw any higher than 40 km an

hour about 20 uh 25 miles an hour even

when I was doing pedal assist and kind

of the main reason for that that it has

a problem that many ebikes that I've

tested at this point have and that is

namely that if you try to Pedal hard on

it there isn't enough resistance even it

does have a Shimano shifter but even if

you go into the the highest ratio that

should have the most resistance it's

really not much resistance at least for

an actual cyclist and so what I found is

that if I wanted to move faster I felt

like I was almost spinning out of

control because there wasn't enough

resistance for me to actually add more

Force to it so maybe in theory if you're

going downhill you could get up to the

45 km an hour 28 mil an hour but I

didn't personally see that myself I also

found that acceleration isn't as quick

I've been riding the high boy p7 as my

the main bike I've been riding uh E

ebike I should say and I just found that

acceleration is a little bit slower on

the win one

E2 I also found when going to you know

they claim to be able to climb up to a

20% grade and so I tested that uh I

don't think it was quite a 20 uh

percentage grade but I was it was

probably somewhere about a 15 percentage

uh climb and what I found is that I was

able to maintain as I was pedaling by

the way not just going on pure e but

with pedalist assist I was able to

that I would think that you could it

thing that really stands out as a really

really fantastic positive is the fact

that this has a full suspension a rear

real world observations it is a smoother

more comfortable ride than what I am

accustomed to seeing now I wasn't riding

in great conditions and more on that in

just a moment but I I could definitely

tell that the suspension is really

fantastic I would say that a great

application for this is if you're doing

like more like Trail kind of rides where

it's a really rough and uneven surface

it's a really tough frame but it's also

got a great suspension and you can make

I think that that kind of stood out the

other thing I found in real world

I was very reluctant to do a winter

review cuz I know the kind of winters

that we have but I mean the idea was oh

yeah people are riding them in the snow

they're having fun those people are much

more skilled than I am I did not have

fun trying to ride in any kind of deep

snow even with fat tires it is very hard

to keep from fishtailing and and so it

transportation and so then if I drove

drove on the roads because you know

there's been so much snow and there's

you know they they salt the roads and

there's there slush on the side of the

road like I was wearing it from head to

toe like being sprayed on and so I got

home and I was absolutely filthy from uh

doing an extended kind of ride and so

anyway this will be the last time that I

things that I like I think that it looks

really really great it this is a very

cool style and particularly for the

price tag you can get it for around

$1,000 it really does represent a very

great looking bike it has fantastic

again they're fully hydraulic you've got

great grab uh when it when you get up to

like the fact that the uh up and down

it's something that is definitely an

improvement over any of the High boys

you have this long kind of almost bench

it was fairly comfortable for longer

got a nice headlight here and the

actually gone through a couple of ebike

headlights already um when you're going

through you know rough terrain it's it's

not difficult for them to take some

bumps and so uh to having an e an actual

frame around it is is very welcome for

that uh there I also appreciated the

fact that the brake light is actually

integrated and so it's a working brake

light and so when you put on the brakes

that brake light is lighting up and so

it's giving more clear indication if you

are riding in dim or night time

conditions people can actually see when

you're breaking and so that is great I

also noted that the handling is quite

tight now it it's tight in also in the

sense that you don't have the ability

like with some bikes you could actually

actually handles more tightly and allows

you to turn more quickly I also it's

hard for me to get a final read on the

but uh from the reports of others that

a just a marketing exaggeration so how

about the things that I didn't like well

I've already referred to the fact that

the pedal position is weird it's um it's

it's just not a great for me it's not

great ergonomics it's not a a great kind

of pedal type type of bike and I would

also say as far as the ergonomics I

would like the handlebars to have the

bit and so they're a little bit low and

flat and so it's almost like an Easy

Rider kind of of posture where your arms

I would say that isn't fantastic is the

little underpowered as far as your

thrust or your torque for taking off the

bike itself is heavy it weighs about 92

lbs I weigh about 180 lbs and so you're

plus pounds and uh it just feels like it

could use a little bit more power to do

that now top speed can only be achieved

through pedal assist and it's kind of a

weird system too in that you even with

looking essentially for a cheap electric

sense it's a lot greater value for that

it is comfortable it's got great brakes

it's it's easy to ride has fairly decent

might be great if you're looking

essentially for maybe a mountain bike

trail riding it could be fun for that
