Hi, I'm Dustin Abbott and I'm here today to give you a review of a new wireless microphone system
0:16
that is designed for what will likely be the most common camera that you use, and that is
0:21
either for your iOS or Android phone. I'm reviewing the iOS version today, but essentially the
0:27
technology that I've seen in the Lark M1, a microphone system I use all the time with
0:32
my cameras, has been ported over and so you can use the same plug and play technology right
0:37
into your iOS device, be it a phone or a tablet. In fact, it's on the tablet front that I have been perhaps the most impressed and found
0:46
it to be the most useful in that because it is plug and play just like this, you literally
0:51
just plug it into the lightning port, it means that I can use the remote microphone
0:56
for doing things like Zoom presentations. And in fact, through one clever feature
1:01
that is the ability to also plug in a power source and continue to charge right through this device
1:08
I was able to do a presentation via Zoom to a camera club
1:12
in which I was able to continue to power my iPad because before figuring that out I was really concerned I wanted to use the microphone system so I could eliminate some of the distractions environmental distractions around me but I also knew that my iPad which is now four or five years
1:26
old, the battery life isn't what it used to be and I had a lot of fear that my battery was going
1:31
to crash before I was finished with what would be about an hour and 45 minute long presentation
1:36
Fortunately, I was able to charge my iPad the entire time through that power flow through
1:41
and also have good sounding audio and nice isolation from environmental noise around me
1:47
Let's take a little bit closer look of what you get in this Lark C1 package
1:52
The truth of the matter is under normal conditions, the microphone quality in a lot of iPhones is really actually quite good
2:03
That microphone quality isn't nearly so good if I'm this far away
2:06
I said that microphone quality isn't nearly so good if I'm this far away
2:11
There are obvious limitations though. How about if there's a lot of environmental noise
2:17
And of course, what if you can't be right there in front of the camera
2:21
What if you have to move further away? Or maybe you want to do an interview and you have multiple people on camera
2:28
Obviously the limitations of a little microphone that built into a phone are going to become very limited whereas this Lark C1 that is designed for this is going to open up all kinds of other possibilities Using the Lark C1 system is truly truly simple
2:45
You have a charge case that it comes in. If you get the Duo pack that will keep things charged up
2:49
to about 32 hours, it is rechargeable via USB-C. But literally all you have to do is you take the
2:55
receiver out, you put it into the Lightning port if you're using iOS, if you're using Android
3:00
into the USB-C port, and then you take one of the transmitters, or two of them if you're doing an
3:06
interview, and you literally just clip them on, and that is all you have to do. It will automatically
3:11
find the proper channel, it will set things up, it will even achieve the proper volume level
3:17
and so literally all you have to do is just plug it and play with it. It's really just that simple
3:24
You can get the Lark C1 in two different configurations. You can get a single one that
3:28
has just one transmitter and one receiver for $129.99 or you can get this what they call a duo
3:36
kit that allows you to do interviews or to have multiple mics that are put in different positions
3:40
and the charge case and it comes at $179 US dollars. The range on this is up to 200 meters
3:49
or 650 feet as long as you have a line of sight One other interesting bit of feedback is that the The audio will allow you to play back even when you have this plugged in you can achieve audio playback and flow through
4:02
in that way. So at the end of the day what the Lark C1 is allowing you to do is to really remove
4:07
the tethering of what is involved in capturing audio on your iOS device. You don't have to be
4:13
just a few feet away. In fact I don't even need to be this close. I could be up to upwards to
4:18
you know, 100 to 200 meters away and still get clear audio through that, as long as I have a
4:24
decent line of sight. So at the end of the day, this is a very, very useful device that is at a
4:29
I believe, a very reasonable price point. And I think that it ought to be very intriguing to you
4:34
if you're looking for a way to get great audio, maybe to do interviews with, if you want to do
4:39
the dual mic setup and be able to do all of that right there on your phone. I'm Dustin Abbott. And
