Dustin’s Thoughts:  I’ve been using the Tamron SP 70-200mm f Di VC USD for about three and a half years.  It’s served me well in many, many wedding and portrait sessions along with countless events.  I chose it over…
I’ve been very excited since the announcement of a new high end line from Korean lens maker Samyang (Rokinon).  Samyang/Rokinon has developed a brand built upon delivering very good optical performance in an inexpensive package.  They (like Zeiss) have primarily produced manual…
Vanguard Heralder 51T Review A few months ago I flew to a different country to shoot a wedding. I needed to pack wedding related gear, which for me meant two DSLRs with 24-70mm f and 70-200mm f zoom lenses along…
As a tech reviewer I have amassed a fairly extensive collection of headphones. I only have two ears, but I have a few dozen sets of headphones! Every set of headphones has its own personality. It’s amazing how different…
Canon EF 70-300mm f IS II USM Image Gallery Opinions have wavered on this new affordable telephoto lens from Canon, but I’ve been anxious to test it for myself.  The operation of the lens is excellent, and I’m extremely impressed…
New EF-M mount lenses have been fairly few and fair between, but 2016 saw two very solid lenses released: the EF-M 28mm f Macro IS STM lens (my review here)  and this lens, the Canon EF-M 18-150mm f-6.3 IS…
When most most people enter into photography they tend to be more focused on the obvious; cameras and lenses. That’s as far as many go, but if you become more invested in photography there are a few essentials that…
Canon’s venture into mirrorless has had mixed success. The EOS M cameras have largely been critical flops despite having some unique strengths largely due to arriving with limited feature sets when compared to the competition. Canon has also really lagged…
Picturing Arizona I live in Eastern Ontario, Canada.  You can see into the Province of Quebec across the Ottawa River from my house.  While it is white and cold out there at the moment, there are many times throughout the…
One of my favorite things to do as a photographer is hike in beautiful places and take pictures. I’ve carried camera gear in a wide variety of bags and with a number of different carry systems. The greatest challenge…
I’ll freely confess to having a bit of hate (no love) relationship with the standard camera straps that come with new cameras.  I’ve purchased no less than six new cameras in the past four years, and you can find the…
Sigma’s recent ART series has primarily been dominated by wide aperture primes along with a few unique, wide aperture zooms. The one exception previously has been the Sigma 24-105mm f/4 OS. The Sigma 12-24mm f/4 DG HSM ART lens take…
New lenses for Canon’s mirrorless system have been somewhat few and far between, but the Canon EF-M 18-150mm f IS STM that launches with the new EOS M5 camera is the second this year (first being the rather excellent little 28mm…
Has Canon finally gotten mirrorless right?  That’s the question on all of our minds as the Canon EOS M5 is released.  At first glance everything seems mostly positive.  The camera now has a rapid burst rate, built in EV-F, and…
I’ve been covering the Sigma ART series since early on (I actually covered the 50mm f before the 35mm f, but I’ve basically only missed the 24mm f in the entire series), but there is one focal length that more…
