“Law of the Desert Born”

© 2013 Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott
I just returned from several weeks in the state of Arizona (American Southwest).  This is the region that I grew up in, and I enjoyed shooting in a very different environment.  Photography was far from my primary pursuit (although I did three portrait sessions while there), but I did go out into the desert when I could.  I was climbing a small mountain when I the sun crested the ridge ahead of me and gave me this sweeping, almost fisheye vista that is further enhanced by the flare effect.  I was reminded of Louis L’Amour, one of my favorite authors growing up, and this beautiful country that so inspired him.  I borrowed one of his titles for this shot.
