Hi, I'm Dustin Abbott and I'm here today
0:01
to talk to you about one of my favorite
0:03
everyday things and that is Peak
0:05
Design's field plates. I originally did
0:08
a review of the capture clip many years
0:11
ago and while I didn't always use the
0:13
capture clip itself, I fell in love with
0:15
the field plates and I began to use them
0:17
on all of my cameras all of the time.
0:20
Makes it easy to do two important
0:22
things. either attach a strap or go
0:24
right to a tripod because the plates
0:26
themselves are ARC compatible and
0:29
they're very low profile so they don't
0:30
add a lot of bulk to my cameras.
0:33
However, one serious downside and that
0:35
is that the plates always required
0:38
having an Allen key to remove them and
0:41
so that made a serious complication
0:42
particularly if it was the type of
0:43
camera that had the memory card area or
0:46
battery down an area that might be
0:48
affected by having the capture plate on.
0:50
Fortunately, Peak Design has redesigned
0:52
the field plate and they have solved the
0:55
biggest problem with it. And so now,
0:57
because of the new design, it has
0:59
incorporated a great ability where you
1:01
can put a lot of torque on there and
1:03
actually tighten it down properly while
1:05
still having what I love in terms of the
1:07
attach points. And so I can add on their
1:10
anchors. And so I can easily go to
1:12
either a a strap like this or go to a
1:15
tripod even in one-handed operation. As
1:17
you can see here, the new fuel plates,
1:20
they do exactly what I wanted them to
1:22
do. And this is such a huge upgrade for
1:24
just everyday realworld use. And the
1:27
good news is that while Peak Design
1:28
stuff does tend to be expensive, these
1:30
are fairly reasonable. You can get it
1:32
for under 40 bucks. And it makes a big
1:34
difference to your everyday workflow. As
1:36
soon as I saw that they had redesigned
1:38
them, I immediately had to put an order
1:40
in to get some of these. And they will
1:41
go on all of my cameras. I find them
1:44
indispensable, and I suspect that you
1:46
will, too. Check out the link in the
1:48
description down below.
