One of the unique strengths of the Fuji ecosystem is the wide range of lenses of varying quality and price points specifically designed around the APS-C sensor (in this case a 1.5x crop factor compared to 35mm/full frame). Fuji’s APS-C-centric…
When I finished up reviewing the Fujifilm X-T3 in late 2018 (my first Fuji review), I praised it as the most well-rounded APS-C camera I had used. Its amazing burst rate, excellent tracking abilities (with the right lens!), and solid…

It is extremely rare to see a Mark II version of a lens only about 15 months after the release of the original lens, but that is what we have in the Viltrox AF 85mm F1.8 STM II. I reviewed…
The Fuji platform has not been a particularly open one. The traditional major third party players like Sigma and Tamron have no Fuji XF mount lenses, and Samyang has no autofocus lenses for XF. The only real AF series for…
As you probably know, I review a wide variety of lenses. I’ve increasingly found myself reviewing lenses from brand-new lens makers in recent years. It seems like the rise of mirrorless cameras in particular has triggered a lot of fresh…
The Sony 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS is one of Sony’s older full frame E-mount lenses, but I’ve just gotten around to reviewing it because of the release of the new Tamron 28-200mm F2.8-5.6 RXD. Not all lenses age well, and that…

A lot of people will be very excited upon the announcement of this newest Sigma lens – the Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DN OS for Sony FE (full frame mirrorless). While the Sony FE 100-400mm G Master lens is an excellent…
Photography is expensive, so a lot of the gear that I end up reviewing is often outside the budget of many people. Fortunately there has been a rise in the past 3-4 years of what I classify as “boutique third…
I had a conversation with a third party lens maker last year, and they asked me essentially what lenses I felt were needed on Sony. One of the lenses I described to them was essentially the Sony FE 20mm F1.8…
The Sony FE 20mm F1.8 G is the kind of lens that everyone can agree on. Reasonably sized, reasonably priced, and optically superior. I don’t know that I could have scripted this lens any better, really, and I was very…
