“Twisted”

© 2014 Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott

There is something evocative about trees that break the rules. Trees are supposed to grow straight and tall. But sometimes circumstance, environment, or perhaps even the nature of the tree defies the rules, and the end result is something twisted…not straight and tall at all. Why is it that such trees are so oddly compelling? It is their very non-conformity that catches the eye and inspires the imagination. I’ve used Alien Skin Snap Art 4 to give this an Impasto style illustrative look that (I believe) suits the subject well.
