“The Seasons of Life”
© 2015 Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott
I took this image of this amazingly bright maple in a farmer’s field a few days ago, and after a little work in Alien Skin Exposure X, I was really, really happy with the overall look and mood of the image. But a little inspiration hit me, and so I’ve added a small but significant detail (at least to me). I took a photo of my father-in-law and his wife walking last weekend. I was lagging behind (taking pictures, of course), and there was something so touching about seeing them walk, hand in hand, in the distance. He’s about to turn 75, and has been a dear friend to me over the last nearly 20 years. I decided to make this photo of the changing of the seasons a tribute to him and the changing of life’s seasons. He’s always been energetic and strong, but in the last year or two his vigor has begun to diminish (much to his chagrin). He isn’t walking as far or as fast, but he will always be special to me.
