…and the Rocks Turned Purple
© 2016 Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott
I was sitting yesterday evening with my wife in the living room reading when I saw the sky starting to “do it’s thing” shortly after 8:00 PM. I quickly grabbed my camera and rushed to a good vantage point for capturing the flames in the sky. Those final rays of light and color caressed the world…and the rocks turned purple. A low water level on the river this time of year revealed a lot of rocks for me to work with, and I love the result. For these quick moments I was certainly thrilled to have the Tamron SP 15-30 VC as my wide angle lens of choice. The large aperture allowed me to keep the ISO setting fairly low even in the very low light, and the VC allowed me to handhold these bracketed shots (including this 1/10th second one) so that I could get a balanced final exposure.
