“The Story of Eastern Alberta”

© 2017 Thousand Word Images by Dustin Abbott

The only way this image could tell the story of Eastern Alberta more is if there was also an oil tank somewhere in the image. Unfortunately the oild tanks don’t make for much of a picture. Eastern Alberta is full of farms and fields, and some beautiful old barns. If you like this type of photo there are all kinds of great opportunities there. This was shot near Lloydminster, which straddles Alberta and Saskatchewan. I didn’t get a chance to do astrophotography on this trip, but the huge, open skies would provide a fabulous opportunity. I love the Voigtländer 20mm lens because it allows me to carry a wide focal length in a tiny form factor. It isn’t particularly sharp, but stopped down it gets the job done and has beautiful color rendition.
