Winter made an early appearance around here, but it was a beautiful snowfall, with mild temperatures following it. Perfect for a walk though the woods laden with fresh snow. I used a different kind of combination for this shot -a Vello accelerator that uses glass elements to give a 0.71x magnification to the image to revert the framing to similar to full frame on a Sony APS-C mirrorless camera (Sony a6500 here). It also increases the maximum aperture by 1 stop, allowing my Tamron 85mm f/1.8 VC to act like a 59.5mm f/1.3 lens here. By the wonder of the crop factor of the camera (1.5x) this then has the appearance of an 89.25mm f/1.8 lens. Yes, it’s a little complicated, but it basically allows you to use full frame lenses with a full frame “look” on APS-C. There is some erosion of image quality, but good lenses still look very good. My review of this adapter will come next week.
