Canon EOS 5Ds R Image Gallery
Canon’s current top dog in terms of overall resolution and megapixel count is the EOS 5Ds R and it’s stunning 50.2MP sensor. With the release of the Canon EOS 5D MK4 coming at the end of this year, I wanted to familiarize myself with the current king of the 5D range so that I could be more accurate in gauging the advancements of the new camera later on. I will be spending part of June and all of July with the EOS 5Ds R and hope to give you all a fair, balanced estimation of its strengths and weaknesses. I’m also excited that I’ll be able to use its incredible resolution in my upcoming test of the Zeiss Otus 1.4/28mm – that should be a killer combination! This image gallery will have images of the camera and from the camera with a variety of lenses. Enjoy!
Here’s a breakdown of the design, features, and specifications of the camera.
Here’s a look at the Pros and Cons of 50 Megapixels:

I love my 5DsR. It’s the best of all worlds. Full frame, high pixel density, you effectively have a 7D Mark II and 5D Mark III in the same body. Want more res? Crop. No banding issues like the 5D Mark III. Better noise than either for most print sizes. About the only thing I’d wish for is a couple more frames per second. I missed the perfect moment of a Thunderbirds solo pass at an airshow that I might have caught with my 7D Mark II. The resolution of the rest of the photos more than made up for it though.
Those that use the 5Ds R extensively seem to really like it, but I don’t get the impression it has really been a volume seller, either.
Great shots Dustin! …and a great review. Really love the pictures of your Father and Mother -in-law, and the one’s with your daughter and them. The B&W images are great too!
Thank you, Matt!
