Mammotion LUBA 2 AWD Robot Lawnmower Review
As a reviewer and influencer, I get pitched with products and concepts all the time. I’ve only got so much time, so I mostly try to “stay in my lane” and primarily stick with what I’m most expert at. Every now and then, however, a new product is so interesting to me that I can’t help but say “yes” to spending some time with it. Such was the case with Mammotion LUBA 2 AWD Robot lawnmower. We’ve enjoyed using robotic vacuums and mopping devices in the house for years, so I was interested to see how this fairly high end mower could do with my big and complicated yard. You can get my full thoughts in my video review below.

While my full thoughts are in the video review, here are some my notes from the review summarized for you here.

- Different capacity sizes – from 1000-10,000 (0.25 acres – 2.5 acres).
- I’m testing the 3000 AWD, which mows up to ¾ acre (3000m2)

- No perimeter wire (uses GPS, cameras, and radar)
- Can be remotely controlled and even access FPS camera
- Can set up different zones and schedules
- Will automatically return to its charging station to recharge
- 150 minute charge time | 180 minute run time
- Has security measures to keep it from being stolen
- Has IPX6 waterproof rating

Assembly
- A look at what’s in the box
- Very robust construction
- Relatively good instructions – assembly took about a half hour, but a lot of that was unpacking.
- *Watch for firmware updates. Setup was frustrating until a firmware update synced everything.
- Setting up reference station will allow better remote control.
- Setting up my perimeter was fairly straightforward. You remote control the mower via your phone to set the perimeter. You can then set up areas to avoid, create channels between areas for the mower to use, and then set up schedules for when you want things to be mowed.
- Firmware updates have allowed options to name areas – control has become more logical and intuitive.

My Needs
As you can see, I have a very complicated yard. It is in multiple sections, and on different tiers with the upper level at the back being nearly 4 foot higher than the rest of the yard.
- About 2/3rds of an acre lawn
- Different sections and tiers – looks more like a wishbone
- Found it worked best to divide my lawn into sections, as doing it all at once took too much time (5-6 hours)
- Had to create channels for the mower to travel since my lawn is in sections (one up a long path along a fence).
- Tough year for me to do a lawmower review, as I have spread nearly 20 yards of topsoil this year (fixing sags and unproductive spots), done construction that has had my yard ripped up in multiple places, etc…
- Have had ongoing topdressing areas that haven’t had grass growing in them yet.
- Have about two months of experience with the mower at the time of review.

Observations
- Unbelievable quiet
- Amazing precision of lines
- Trims the grass – not suction or mulching.
- You learn over time how to maximize the efficiency of how you set it up and run it
- Talks to you!
- Incredibly good at climbing steep places
- Can execute tight turns, but Rugged AWD tires will dig in if you don’t have thick grass
- You will still need to trim edges
- As with all robotic devices, there will be moments when you think, “Man, this thing is smart” and others when you think, “Man, this thing is dumb!”
- Will chew up area in front of charging station. Moved mine to a patio area to avoid this and created mapped channels to the lawns.
- Being able to remotely run, update, and even view FPV is very cool.
- Being able to set the grass height to the optimal level and then keep it there by mowing regularly gives a healthier lawn with fewer weeds.

Conclusions
- I would say that, for the most part, the Luba 2 AWD delivers on its promise.
- I would disregard the 17 minute setup time claim, as to really maximize your investment you’ll need to take the time to learn it and set it up well.
- Price = $2500 USD for the model I tested. A lot of money.
- Makes a lot of sense for those with a very angled/steep lawn.
- Makes a lot of sense for those who really hate cutting the grass or don’t have the time.
- For others, though, it is a big investment that you need to really want in order to justify the expense.
The Mammotion LUBA 2 AWD is not for everyone, but is a very slick, well executed package that does a pretty fantastic job cutting the grass!
