Dustin Abbott

July 23rd, 2024

The Anker Soundcore Boom 2 Plus has been the perfect summer companion so far.  This is a truly impressive portable Bluetooth speaker, and it seriously brings the boom.  Is this $250 portable media center worth your hard earned money?  Find out in my thorough video review below, or by reading through my review notes found here…

How I Used Them

  • Party
  • Sporting event (beach volleyball)
  • Movie sound
  • General purpose use

Things I Like

  • Sound quality!  Comparison to Ultimate Ears Hyperboom (2x as much) and was shocked by how well it did.  Better clarity
  • Amazed by how loud it can go and how big a sound stage it can produce (bleachers on a field for beach volleyball, filling my whole backyard)
  • Hit over 95 decibels at a 6 foot range
  • Got another Bluetooth Speaker rated at 100W – it doesn’t come anywhere near the volume of sound this can produce.
  • Good ergonomic handle makes it easy to carry despite being pretty big
  • Great non-lag and big soundstage makes it great to put behind a tablet or laptop for big movie sound
  • Pairs to both my iPad and iPhone and doesn’t make me choose.

Things I Don’t Like

  • For me the lights are a little gimmicky.
  • It’s not small or discrete at all

Conclusion

This is the kind of Bluetooth speaker I’ve been looking for.  I’ve got a bunch of smaller speakers that are fine for specific applications, but this is the first one I’ve used that is truly impressive in the amount and quality of sound that it can produce.  It is definitely the one to bring to the party, and while it isn’t cheap at $250, it easily competes with much more expensive options.
