Anker Soundcore Liberty 3 ANC Earbuds Review

Dustin Abbott

October 3rd, 2024

The Anker Soundcore Liberty 3 buds are perhaps the best sounding ANC (active noise cancelling) earbuds that I’ve ever used, and with the price discounted to the $80 USD range, they are a fantastic value. These are premium buds…but are they for you?  Find out in my thorough video review below, or by reading through my review notes found here…

Features

  • Recommended by 20 GRAMMY Winning Producers
  • ACAA 2.0: Our exclusive coaxial dual driver technology delivers high and low frequency sound directly to your ear without interference. Its wide soundstage is detailed and spacious, bass has a deep punch, mids are luscious, and treble sparkles.
  • Personalized Noise Cancelling: Standard noise cancelling only adjusts noise based on data. HearID ANC analyzes your ears and level of in-ear pressure to create a tailored profile that optimizes noise reduction and reduces external sound to suit your ears.
  • Fusion Comfort Fit: Liberty 3 Pro’s earbuds have a triple-point ergonomic shape and built-in ear pressure relief for all-day comfort. 4 sizes of liquid silicone ear tips and flexible ear wings ensure you get a strong seal and secure grip.
  • Up to 32 Hours of Playtime: Enjoy up to 8 hours of music from a single charge, plus get 3 full charges from the compact charging case to extend the playtime even further. Recharge the case via USB-C cable or wireless charger.

Standout Features (to Me)

  • A lot in the box.
  • Many configuration options
  • Ear wings are part of custom fit
  • 8 hours/32 hours (ANC = 6/24)
  • 2 hour full charge – 3 hours for case
  • Case can be wirelessly charged

How I Used Them

  • Traditional earbud things (music, audiobooks, video playback)
  • Working
  • Running
  • Using noisy power tools
  • Working in environments with a lot of background noise
  • For Zoom meetings
  • In my Jacuzzi tub

Things I Like

  • Outstanding audio quality for both music and video.  Perhaps the best audio quality I’ve found in an earbud
  • Noticeably superior Bluetooth range to the many other Bluetooth buds I’ve owned
  • Dual connection mode means that I don’t have to disconnect my iPhone to use on my iPad, etc…
  • ANC modes are distinct and work very well.  Personalized HearID ANC mode.
  • Transparency mode has been very helpful in mitigating conflicts with my wife!
  • Allowed me to block out sound of jets in Jacuzzi and watch a movie
  • Low thudding for running
  • Using transparency mode during zoom meetings made me feel less disconnected
  • Premium packaging and presentation.
  • Soundcore APP is great and full of potential customizations

Things I Don’t Like

  • Could never find a comfortable combo for my ears.  Ears would be sore after extended use – more of the bulk of what
  • Weird configuration for storing them in the charging case.  Never became natural
  • Stick out of my ears more than what I like

Conclusion

The Anker Soundcore Liberty 3 left me with mostly positive but slightly mixed feelings. I loved the sound quality, the fantastic active noise cancellation, and the premium feel of the buds. I didn’t love the overall fit for my ears, however, and also felt that there were a few ergonomic decisions with the charge case that could have been better thought out. I would have had a harder time recommending the Liberty 3 ANC buds at the original MSRP of $130 USD, but at the current price of $80 they are a no brainer…if you don’t have small, delicate ears!
