I was walking in the rain, using the diffused light of the storm to shoot wildflowers when I noticed something that you’ve probably seen as well. A crack was running through the asphalt of the road, and in a little depression created by that crack a little plant was springing up. Getting down low enough in the rain was interesting, but I was rewarded by the amazing isolation provided by the Sonnar’s amazing fore and background bokeh. It transformed the scene into a minimalist piece of art. This little discovered reminded me that if this road was to abandoned and nature was given enough time, it would be completely reclaimed. The force of life is relentless, and even the hard surfaces of concrete and asphalt cannot resist it. This shot has only had a few minimal lighting tweaks and a slight color balance change, but is otherwise SOOC.

Technical information Canon EOS 6D, Zeiss APO Sonnar T 2/135mm ZE, Processed in Adobe Lightroom 5
