Tamron SP 15-30mm f/2.8 VC USD Image Gallery

February 18th, 2015

I have just completed my full review of the new Tamron SP 15-30mm f/2.8 Di VC USD ultrawide zoom lens.  You can read the review here or watch it here.  This is a stunningly good lens, and is the second lens that I have been blown away by this year (Canon’s 100-400L MK II lens was the first).  I tested the lens during a period of pretty nasty weather, with temperatures that stayed exceptionally cold (between -20 and -40!!) punctuated by a snowstorm or two.  The lens proved capable of giving me some exceptional images despite the weather, however, and there are number of images here that I am delighted to share with you.  There are two lens image galleries here:  the first image gallery is photos of the lens and its build.  The second image gallery is a large variety of photos taken with the lens.  Beneath that are a few full resolution samples for you to pixel peep.

Images of the Lens:

Images Taken with the Lens:

This gallery has a variety of images taken with the Tamron 15-30 VC.  Some of them are narrow depth of field shots, and in a few cases I’ve included crops to show sharpness.  Most of these have received minimal process (a few are toned), and none of them have had correction for distortion, vignetting, or chromatic aberrations.  The performance of the lens is really exceptional.

Full Size Samples

I have included three full size samples for you to take a close look at.  Right click the image and select “Save As” to get the full resolution image. The first is a tripod mounted f/2.8 landscape shot with absolutely no correction or sharpening.  It has only been converted from a RAW file.

The second image is a stopped down, handheld image taken at f/11.  It has received only a couple of minor adjustments (exposure balancing).

The final image gives you a look at the wide open image quality (and bokeh) as 30mm, f/2.8 – handheld
